With Covid came the need for more home office space, and our client’s situation was no exception.  The charming antique home technically had ample space for expansion, but the owner was an avid gardener, and wanted to see if there was a way to expand within the existing footprint.  CTA suggested enclosing the charming, but little used, covered porch and turning it into the home office.  The new office has a long desk surface facing the garden, with ample workspace and storage, including a concealed cupboard for the printer and other equipment.  Small details were carefully worked through, including the splurge on the ER Butler enameled doorknob.  Opposite the office, the existing screen porch was expanded to preserve symmetry, painted, and otherwise fixed up.  The new hallway created between the enlarged screen porch and the home office offers a more gracious entrance from the garden.  The covered porch at the home’s primary entrance was enlarged and the roof extended to the left and right to create a larger and more comfortable entry.
