Great Camp Bunkhouse

“The Bunkhouse” is one of five buildings in the Great Camp compound (with the main house, cabins, and barn). Inspired by summer camps throughout New England, the building sleeps six, four in identical beds and two in a loft above, all overlooking the long porch and lake beyond. Each bed is made of the same rustic pine as the cabin, with big storage drawers for bedding, a bench for bags, and a custom night stand. The most conspicuous and whimsical feature is the triple wide industrial sink on one end, which augments the single sink in the bathroom; the bathroom itself is inspired by summer camps, with multiple toilet and shower stalls and an outdoor shower all separated from the main space by a big barn door. Spackle painted floors and whimsical light fixtures (retrofitted cookie tins oil cans, and kerosene lamps, and fixtures made from plumbing pipe) complete the look. The project was designed and managed by Catherine while at Ann Beha Architects.
